Concurrent Session: Step Away From That Sticker Chart

Sophie is the Chief Operating Officer for the National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, NOFASD Australia. Sophie has held positions in frontline services and senior management, across a range of sectors, providing services to multiple young people and families impacted by FASD. Sophie has lived experience of FASD.

Dr Vanessa Spiller is a Clinical Psychologist, educator and author with over 25 years of clinical experience, holding a Masters and PhD in Psychology. Therapeutically, she works with families and young people impacted by FASD, employing evidence-based approaches in conjunction with practice-based evidence to ensure meaningful, helpful and on-track support. Dr Spiller authored "Explained by Brain: The FASD workbook for parents, carers and educators", runs a year-long online, interactive training program for parents and carers and supports and provides resources for individuals and families impacted by FASD such as "Step away from that Sticker Chart" , "They know better" and the Ability Wheel, as well as helping therapists and services in their client work. Dr Spiller is an accredited supervisor and regularly provides lectures, conference presentations and workshops on identifying and working with individuals with FASD.
