David was trained as a statistician and developmental psychologist at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and spent his professional career as a professor in the Psychology Department at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He was an active researcher, and recently retired as Full Professor. He was a co-developer, with Dr. Karyn Purvis, of TrustBased Relational Intervention™ (TBRI™), and was a Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (child.tcu.edu), until Dr. Purvis’s passing in 2016, when he became the sole Director.
